Winter Schedule
(January 16th - March 8th)
Music Together
Tuesdays: 9am or 10am (Cedarburg)
Wednesdays: 9:15am or 10:15am (Port Washington)
Fridays: 9am (Cedarburg)
Rhythm Kids
Thursdays: 4:15pm (Cedarburg)
Join us for the Music Together Bells Song Collection this Winter!
In the upcoming song collection, families will play with their voices by mimicking the sounds of instruments in the “French Folk Song,” and Spanish-speaking animals in “De Colores.” (Did you know that in Spanish, roosters say “Quiri-quiri quiri” to wake people up?) Making funny animal sounds, lip-burring, and other tonal play helps children explore their vocal register, discover their singing voices and distinguish them from their speaking voices. And since children learn from contrasts and by expressing music with their full bodies, you’ll be hopping lightly like birds and sliding smoothly like an iceskater. You’ll have so much fun you won’t even notice that you’re learning staccato and legato! In addition to your weekly classes, your tuition includes recordings and materials for you to use at home, including access to the songs through the Music Together app. Join the Winter session and play, sing, laugh and learn with families in your community.
Music Together mixed ages classes are for ages 0-5 years with a grownup. Children will learn basic music competence through song, dance, and instrument play, setting the foundation for a lifetime love of music. It is one of the only local classes that you get to do WITH your child(ren). Adults will enjoy letting loose with their little music maker(s), while fostering new friendships within the community. Ms. Kat met some of her best friends while attending Music Together classes. You can too! :)
Music Together tuition is $160. Siblings are $55 for the first child, and $35 for each additional. Children under eight months at the start of the semester are free with a paid sibling. Tuition includes a songbook, digital access to the music, and an optional cd.
Join us for the Rhythm Kids Elephant Collection!
The Elephant Rhythm features triple-meter drumming patterns inspired by the traditional social dance from Mali known as Suku. We'll enjoy dramatic play in "Elephant Stampede," and choreographed dancing and drumming in "Music Everywhere." We'll also learn a Gaelic children's song called "Dilín ó Deamhas" and, of course, have a blast doing "The Elephant Dance"! All the songs in this collection have been chosen and arranged specifically to support each student's music development.
Rhythm Kids classes are for ages 4-6 years, with or without a grownup. These classes are a great "next-step" for those that have been in Music Together or another music class. The children will have the opportunity to be more independent, and will help "lead" the class. We will have loads of fun singing, dancing, drumming, and playing musical games. Tuition is $160, which includes a songbook, digital access to the music, digital drumming videos, and an optional cd. A hand drum is required for class (preferably a djembe), which can be purchased through Lakeside Music.
Tuition is non-refundable.
Class instruments (with the exception of djembes for Rhythm Kids) will be provided by Ms. Kat, and will be disinfected with a non-toxic, foodsafe cleaner. There are also quality instrument sets available for purchase through the shop's website (Lakeside Music), if you wish to bring your own instruments, or have some for jamming at home. The purchased sets will be given out on the first day of class.

Who is the face behind Music Together with Lakeside Music?
Meet Ms. Kat.
I am “Mama” to three little jammers. My husband is my best friend, and the absolute greatest dance partner. We live in Port Washington with our rescue pup, Banjo.
I have been making music since the age of five, starting with piano. I took a pause as I navigated my way through early adult life, but then about ten years ago, I decided to have my old acoustic restrung at the local music shop. The owner of the shop restrung my guitar, and my heart, and now we have two small music shops (Lakeside Music - Port Washington & Sheboygan), three beautiful kids, and a crazy puppers named Banjo. We also just added a coffee shop to our Port shop (Banjole’s Brews).
I have been leading Music Together classes for nearly five years. First out of my Port shop, then virtual, and now indoors/outdoors in Cedarburg and Port Washington. Combining music with nature has been a remarkable experience. Being outside is definitely my happy place. Hiking, camping, gardening, exploring new places, kayaking, walking, birding… I love it all. That being said, outdoor classes definitely are my jam, but I do love being back in an indoor classroom as well. :)
Why did I start leading classes?
Community. It is all about community. With my son, I had some severe postpartum depression. My husband was diagnosed with NHL (cancer) when our little dude was three- months old. This was a tumultuous time for our family. When we were able to “come out of our cave” as I will call it, Music Together was one of the first activities we did. It was, and is, amazing. Six years ago, my son and I met some of our best friends in these classes.
Long story short, music heals. Music brings people together. Music lets people express themselves. My music classes promote being silly, having fun, letting loose, making friends, sharing laughs, all while learning basic music competence. The classes give you 45 minutes (or 55 minutes as my time management skills can be way off…I can get carried away when having a good time…😂) of time spent with your little person(s), with no technology, no looming work deadlines, no piles of laundry in sight…
Just you and yours having fun, building community, and setting your child off on the right path to developing a lifelong love for music.
Ok. Ok. I ramble.
Oh. I just graduated with my master's as a family nurse practitioner. I aspire to have my own practice in the coming years, helping families find their personal path to wellness. I have a special place in my heart for home hospice. I hope to see patients from newborn to end-of-life, in my office and in their homes. When I was a home hospice nurse, all of my patients received music therapy. Music heals on so many levels. 🌱
I do still plan on leading music classes while working as a FNP, because I cannot imagine life without Music Together. Teaching is my outlet. My happy place. There is not much better in life than starting the day making music with you and yours!
